Tutorial: Flower macrame earring

Macrame tutorial

This earring is quite difficult to make. The steps are repeated and the pattern is not complex, but when you start the first row of petals, you have to make your knots very tight. After you make the first row of petals your work will be a little wavy. You have to adjust it with your hands and make the second row. After each row your earring will be flatter and flatter as you adjust it.

This kind of knotting might make your fingers blistered.

I hope you manage. If this is too difficult to make, then try it with less starting cords, for example only 4 cords plus the first one and the steps are about the same.

Used materials:

  • 1 pair of earring closures;
  • 8 x 70cm waxed polyester cord (1mm) / earring (I used Linhasita waxed polyester cord);
  • 3 x 2 pieces of different sized beads (I used 3mm, 6mm and 8mm onyx beads).

You will also need:

  • a workboard (mine is a covered swimming board);
  • scissors;
  • pins;
  • and a lighter.
